Once upon a time there were 7″ and 12″ vinyl records. On side “A,” there was usually a hit single. On side “B,” there was usually a hidden gem of music not found on any of the artists’ studio album releases. These were the bits of gold fans loved.

NEXT WEEK: LOTS OF NEW ELECTRONIC MUSIC! (FRIDAY 8-10P EST USA ON WXOJ 103.3FM IN NORTHAMPTON, MA OR LIVE ONLINE AT VALLEYFREERADIO.ORG)

In the 80s, America pretty much classified “new wave” as anything but pertaining to traditional US pop/rock music. Tonight we take it to the UK & beyond with many under-noted US-heard bands including D.A.F., Marc Almond, Ultravox, Alphaville and Killing Joke.

Join us, won’t you?

TONIGHT: WXOJ 103.3 fm, NOHO, MA, + valleyfreeradio.org 8-10p EST USA

Last Friday’s program was pretty awesome. Mark, a new programmer here at WXOJ, was training with me and ran much of the show. We featured not only cover songs but the original of the song. Much fun!

It’s interesting to hear the differences (and sometimes NO difference) between the original and the cover. In this set, my most favorite cover has to be Senor Coconut’s cover of Kraftwerk’s, “Autobahn.” hehehe

We wanted to throw in a new cover/original from The Flaming Lips’ new release, *Sgt. Pepper’s*… but the song we needed was just release yesterday… so, SOON, my friends! 🙂
